Once of a time, there was a young girl, called Zoe, who loved unicorns.

One evening, after bedtime, she couldn’t sleep, even when she knew she should be trying.

Looking out of her bedroom window, she saw something glowing at the bottom of the garden.

Quietly, she put on her dressing gown and secretly went downstairs to open the back door.

She walked through the yard and towards the light. Suddenly, in front of her, was a shining, golden unicorn.

“Hello”, he said. “Hello” said Zoe.

“Why are you here?” Asked Zoe.

“I have always been here”, said the unicorn.

“But why have I never seen you before?”

“Because you have never needed me before” said the handsome creature.

“But you don’t exist, do you?” she said.

“Well, what can you see Zoe? I am here to protect you and I always have been. You are the child I was asked to watch over and to keep safe.”

“So, what are you protecting me from and who asked you to do it?”
