The bird who went “tweet”
There was once a beautiful little bird called Dottie, who lived in a nice farmer’s yard. She wasn’t very old but because she didn’t have the bright or colourful feathers which other birds had, she felt she was a bit dull and not very beautiful at all. Her friends kept telling her that she was perfectly normal and to stop bothering about what the other birds thought. But every night, she would think to herself, if only I could be a special kind of bird?
Sometimes Dottie had dreams. She would be flying higher than an eagle and then doing loop the loop in the sky and all the other birds would be applauding her.
Dreaming was a bit risky for Dottie, though, because when she dreamed, she sometimes lost her grip. Once, she actually fell from her perch in the fig tree which she so loved. She was fine, but she did think to herself that dreaming could sometimes be a bit dangerous and that she should keep her feet firmly on the twig in future.
One day, whilst she was listening to the blackbird singing away in the morning sunshine, she made a decision. She would find a hobby. Something which would make her really special and make all the other birds want to know her.
